Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign uses customized, invisible (hence, the name) aligners to straighten your teeth. They don’t hurt like metal braces, and no one will even know that you’re wearing them. Dr. Frankenberry and many other dentists use Invisalign to help their patients achieve the beautiful and confident smiles they’ve often dreamed of.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign aligners fit comfortably over your teeth, helping them to gradually shift into the place they should be. They work just like metal braces, but when you smile, no one will be able to see the clear aligners. If you and Dr. Frankenberry decide that Invisalign is right for you, she’ll customize a treatment plan. First, she’ll do a scan and create a digital map of your teeth and their current position to show how Invisalign aligners can shift and straighten your teeth. Dr. Frankenberry can even show you before and after pictures of your smile. During your course of treatment, you’ll change aligners about every 2 weeks, and your teeth will shift slightly with each new aligner.

How long do I have to wear the Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign aligners are made to be worn all day, but you can take them out when you eat or brush and floss your teeth. The duration of your treatment plan depends on how long it will take to realign your teeth, and many patients complete their treatment in 9 to 15 months. Some patients progress to new aligners each week over the course of their treatment plan. About every 6 weeks, Dr. Frankenberry will perform a check-up and discuss your progress. When you’ve completed the treatment, Dr. Frankenberry will teach you how to maintain your beautiful, new smile.

How much does Invisalign cost?

Invisalign costs about the same as metal braces, but you’ll likely finish your treatment sooner. You’ll save time in caring for your teeth with Invisalign aligners because when you eat or brush and floss your teeth, you simply take them out. You can’t do that with metal braces, of course, and with metal braces you have to be very careful about what you eat. Your insurance plan may cover all or part of the cost of Invisalign. If you want to know more about Invisalign, come in to see Dr. Frankenberry. She’ll answer your questions about this effective and easy treatment, and explain how you can achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.
Stone Ridge Orthodontics is currently accepting new patients, and they accept most major forms of insurance.
